The best of Southern California PGA Jr. League came together at Temecula Creek Golf Club on August 10 for the 2026 PGA Jr. League All-Star Section Championship.
Eight All-Star teams across the 13U and 17U divisions competed for the Section Championship, with two teams earning the title.
17U Section Champions: Westside League
Coach: Chris Jones, PGA
13U Section Champions: KJ Golf Academy League
Coach: Kevin Yarng, PGA
Both teams will now advance to the PGA Jr. League Regional Championship at Wailea Golf Club in Maui, Hawaii, September 18–20, 2026.
The SCPGA Foundation was also proud to provide tee gifts for players with support from Friends of Golf (FOG) and VESSEL Golf. We thank both organizations for helping make the championship experience even more memorable for our junior golfers.
PGA Jr. League is about more than the scores posted on the course. Behind each team is a PGA Professional helping players grow as golfers, teammates and young people.
For Westside League Coach Chris Jones, PGA, watching that growth has been one of the most rewarding parts of the season.
“Watching these kids grow into not only great golfers, but also incredible young men and women, has been one of the most rewarding parts of this job,” Jones said.
That growth showed at the Section Championship. After a difficult start for some of Westside’s groups, Jones said “Never Give Up” became the message between holes.
“All of our groups came back and played lights out on the back nine, showing that anything can happen if they give themselves the opportunity to with the right mindset,” Jones said.
When Westside officially advanced, Jones described the moment as “pure joy.”
“Seeing these juniors work so hard, believe in themselves, and ultimately see all their hard work pay off was incredibly rewarding,” he said.
For Kevin Yarng, PGA, KJ Golf Academy’s championship was the result of years spent coaching many of the same players.
“I’ve watched a lot of these kids grow up, not only as golfers but as people,” Yarng said. “To now have the opportunity to compete together as one team and accomplish something like this has been an amazing experience for me as their coach.”
Yarng credited the team’s success to the relationships between players, coaches and families.
“There’s a level of trust between the coaches, players and families that you can’t build overnight,” he said. “We know each other, we support each other, and when it’s time to compete, everyone is fighting for the same team.”
When KJ Golf Academy secured its Regional Championship spot, Yarng’s first thought was simple: “We finally did it.”
“We’ve put so much time and work into building this program and developing these players, so seeing everything come together was a very special feeling,” he said.
The championship also reflects the important role PGA Professionals play in junior golf. Through PGA Jr. League, coaches teach more than the game itself, helping players develop teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship while creating relationships that can last beyond the season.
Now, both championship teams will continue their journey in Maui.
“We’re excited for the competition, but just as excited to be in Maui, embrace the experience, and enjoy the moment,” Jones said.
Yarng and KJ Golf Academy are heading into the next round with the same mindset.
“We’re going to enjoy the experience, but when it’s time to compete, we’re going there ready to give it everything we have,” Yarng said.
Congratulations to Westside League and KJ Golf Academy, and thank you to every player, family and PGA Professional who helped make the 2026 Southern California PGA Jr. League All-Star season possible.
We wish both teams the best of luck as they represent Southern California at the PGA Jr. League Regional Championship in Maui!
